The New Year is a time to better yourself as a person and set new goals for the year. It allows people to change the past and make things right. Whether it’s getting better grades, working out, being kinder to peers, or helping out the community more.
“My New Year’s resolution would be to get better grades and work harder in school for my future. To make that happen I plan to set about an hour or so every night to get homework done and take time for myself,” Sara Simpkins (‘29) said.
The New Year can also be about getting a fresh start on something. Whether that’s retrying a hobby, retrying a food/recipe, or rewatching a show you may have not fully enjoyed. Getting to start fresh with a clean slate can feel amazing sometimes.
“When I was younger I loved soccer and as I got older it just wasn’t for me anymore but now that it’s 2026 I wanna retry it this year and give it another shot,” Brooke Twellman (‘29) said.
New years is also a time to celebrate with family. While the “New Year” is restarting. The day of New Years or New Years Eve can be for hanging out with family and starting off the year with fun memories or family traditions, or staying home and watching a movie on the couch.
“On New Year’s Eve every year my family hosts a huge party with friends and family and we watch the ball drop, hangout around a bon fire, and roast s’mores as well as sing songs and do karaoke,” Taylor McRoberts (‘29) said.
The New Year’s such a fun time hanging out with family and friends. Having fun and making memories, ending the year on a good note and starting the New Year on a good note.
