In about three weeks, the biggest sporting event in the United States will take place; Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California. As with every recent NFL season, 14 teams competed in this year’s NFL Playoffs.
There are only four teams that can still punch their ticket to the Super Bowl, the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks are facing off in the NFC Championship, while the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots will be playing in the AFC Championship.
Unfortunately not every team can make it this far, and a lot of runs were cut short, like the Chicago Bears who went 5-12 in 2024, but things turned around in 2025 with the Bears winning the NFC North with a record of 11-6. Chicago made it all the way to the Divisional Round, where they lost in overtime to the Rams. There was also the Buffalo Bills, who have been very successful in the regular season with Josh Allen under center, but could never get it done in the postseason mostly due to the Kansas City Chiefs, who have knocked them out of the playoffs four times. With no Chiefs to worry about, many thought the Bills would go all the way, but after a few key pass interference calls, the Broncos would win in overtime, ending the Bills supposed promised run to become World Champions.
Football is America’s most popular sport, so of course people at our school have their picks for who they think will hoist the Lombardi Trophy in Santa Clara.
“The Rams will win Super Bowl LX,” Spanish Teacher Jacob Woosley said.
The Rams have an exciting offense led by MVP candidate QB Matthew Stafford, and a solid defense that has shut down offenses all season long, a few games they were barely able to sneak in a win, but some close loses as well, so it will be interesting to see how they fair against a top team like the Seahawks.
“I think the Patriots are going to win it because they have a really good defense, and a good offense with Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs, and Rhamondre Stevenson,” Kylen Bury (‘28) said.
Drake Maye is right up there with Stafford for MVP, and Stefon Diggs is back to form after tearing his ACL in Week 8 of last season, and Rhamondre Stevenson will suit up for the Pats on Sunday after leaving last week’s game against the Texans with an eye injury, but he’s one of the best running backs in the league right now. But, can the Patriots find more of that same magic that led them to 6 Super Bowls?
“I think the Broncos are gonna win because of some miracle from Jarrett Stidham,” Cooper Woolsey (’28) said. “I think they will face the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, and I am hoping Bo Nix will magically be healed by the last quarter and throw an amazing touchdown.”
The Broncos are severely handicapped going into the AFC Championship against the Patriots, with quarterback Bo Nix out, receivers Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin questionable, and a lot of their players on Injured Reserve, it would definitely take a miracle for them to take down the New England Patriots on Sunday.
With four powerhouse teams, there’s no guessing who will face off at Super Bowl LX in February. Will it be Rams vs. Patriots, a rematch of Super Bowls LIII and XXXVI? Or Seahawks vs. Broncos, another potential rematch from Super Bowl XLVIII? Yet another rematch from Super Bowl XLIX, Seahawks vs. Patriots? Or a never before seen matchup, Broncos vs. Rams? All of these teams have a chance at the biggest prize in football, so we have to wait and see who will lift up the Lombardi at Super Bowl LX.
