The boy’s tennis team is starting off strong this season, with their players already feeling confident and excited as their first match of the season is coming up.
“So far it’s been great,” Ezra Khanamuenwai (‘26) said. “Everybody is back into the swing of things, and we have our first game on Friday.”
He also expressed how he’s looking forward to the upcoming season.
“Right now, I’m excited for our first match and the rest of the season,” Khanamuenwai said.
His hopes are high as are his goals.
“My goal is to go to state and win team districts,” Khanamuenwai said.
Others also share his excitement about the start of the new season.
“It’s been pretty fun,” Pacey Roth (‘27) said.
He is especially motivated by the chance to compete at a higher level.
“I’m excited for the chance to go to state and try to medal at state,” Roth said.
For many, there has also been a big focus on making great teamwork during practices.
“Practices have been good, and we are working hard and getting better every practice,” Chase Weiman (‘26) said.
He is also very excited about competing with a close friend.
“I’m excited to be able to play doubles with my friends, and go to districts with him and hopefully win,” Weiman said.
His goals for the season are all about a strong game and improving himself.
“My goals are to win GACs or get first place and play to the best of my ability,” Weiman said.
While many are returners, there is always a place for new talent on the team.
“It’s my first year playing, but the practices have been good,” Mason Woodward (‘26) said.
While practices are a walk in the park, Woodward mentions his excitement for his very first match.
“Our first game is on Friday, so I’m very excited for that,” Woodward said.
Woodward hopes to improve his game and challenge himself this first season.
“I want to be top 12 because it’s varsity, and win more than 50%,” Woodward said.
Others also expressed similar feelings about the way the team has been preparing.
“It’s been pretty good, working hard and getting some work in,” Landon Waller (‘26) said.
He is hoping for lots of success both individually and as a team.
“My goal is to win GACs and have a great season,” Waller said.
With the whole team having strong motivation and high goals set by players, the boys’ tennis season is looking to be competitive and full of potential.
