There is considerable controversy over whether Thanksgiving should precede the Christmas season or if Christmas decorations should be put up, followed by a celebration of Thanksgiving, and then resumed for Christmas. Some people get a little mad at others who immediately put up Christmas trees before Thanksgiving.
“Christmas to me is all year round,” Brooke Twellman (’29) said.
Christmas is the time of year when people gather with family, make memories, drink hot chocolate and eat Christmas cookies. Some people think it is nice to celebrate it before Thanksgiving to get in the Christmas spirit, as well as get in the spirit of being with family.
“Hanging out with family, decorating, eating foods we all love and having fun doing family traditions is all the best part of the seasons, but I still prefer to set up all my Christmas stuff right after Halloween,” Aubrey Wilga (’27) said.
Thanksgiving is a time of year where families come together, eat food, and share what they are thankful for. It is a time where people are happy, and that’s when people think it’s a good time to get in the family spirit. Thanksgiving is also a time for family traditions.
“Thanksgiving means more to me than Christmas,” Raina Reynolds (29’) said. “I personally celebrate and decorate for Thanksgiving before Christmas because it’s the time of year where all of my family comes together and we are all family-oriented, as well as love spending time together getting to listen to music, sit around a bonfire and hang out.”
Thanksgiving and Christmas are both such amazing holidays. Whether you decorate for Christmas early or right before, it is still such a fun thing to do with family. Bonding with the ones you love, whether you’re decorating for Christmas or Thanksgiving, spending time with family is a cherishable moment.
