At our school, the basketball team is hosting a pinkout game. Karl, the basketball coach and a large reason this game was put together was very dedicated to spreading awareness for cancer survivors and people that might have it.
When he was asked what the pinkout game was for, he mentioned where the proceeds go to and when it is.
“Its for coaches versus cancer and all of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society,” Mr. Ladage said. “The game is on February 13th and it is at 7:00 pm then girls are the same day at 5:30,”
Student athletes at our school are truly looking forward to getting an opportunity to play for something super important. Just like LaShawn Knights (27).
“I am most excited because I’m ready to play for senior night and I’m excited to play for people with cancer because I had some family members that have dealt with that,” Knights said.
As for Jeremiah Mozee (27), cancer has impacted him and his family and it was important to him to go out and play for the people that can’t.
“Not only is it important because we need a win but I have had family members that have passed from cancer and it’s important to me to go out and play,” Mozee said.
Another student, Van Moore (26), that is playing in this game was excited to play just for this very reason. He was also excited because he was ready for a hyped student section.
“I am excited to play for the people that have cancer and I think that makes it more motivating,” Van Moore said. “The student section is going to be truly exciting because it will give us more motivation to play well,”.
The pinkout game is one of the most loved games of the year. The student section always brings so much pride and excitement to the game. Basketball players are excited and obviously, so is the student section. Remember, all profits are given straight to the American Cancer Society and don’t forget to be there on February 13th at 7:00 for varsity boys and 5:30 for varsity girls.
