Do you smell that? The fresh smell of the clay. The warm weather outside. Sitting in the stands and cheering loudly when our team gets a home run. We all know what that means…The baseball season is about to begin and make history.
Some players are just excited to build a better bond with their friends and have set personal goals.
“My goal is to get 10 strikeouts in a game,” Alex Graham (‘27) said. “I’m excited to play with my best friends.”
Having a positive attitude and pushing others to do good is always a refresher on the field.
“The team has coached me to do my best and always motivated me to be my best,” Graham said.
Personal goals for themselves this season is what will build success.
“My goal is to earn a starting spot in varsity,” Ollie Collier (’27) said.
Having the winning spirit and a positive attitude is always good on the field.
“I’m most excited to win games with my team, and to just have fun with my best friends,” Collier said.
With the goal of making everyone better by pushing each other is what makes the team stronger.
“The team made me better by pushing me to be better and always supporting me,” Collier said.
The significance of wanting to go big this season is very important, it shows the players effort.
“My goals for this season is to make a big playoff run and to get first team all conference and first team all state,” Jayden Flores (‘27) said.
For some players getting to compete against other great schools that are good is exciting. After all, everybody loves a challenge.
“I’m just extremely excited for this season to start and to get going and to compete against great schools,” Flores said.
Having each other’s back is always a good motivator.
“The team always has each other’s back and pushes you to be the best,” Flores said.
Winning mindset is always the mindset you should have. Competing against other schools means our players get to show-off their skills and be extra good.
“My goal is to have a winning record and first team all conference,” Brenden Dickherber (‘27) said. “I’m excited about being able to compete against good teams.”
Our players love motivating other players and helping the team grow.
“The team always pushes me to do better and be my best,” Dickherber said.
It’s not always just about having good players, it’s also about maintaining proper school life.
“The goals are to win 20 or more games, win a conference championship, compete for a district championship, and have the highest all academic players,” Coach Schmidt said.
For our first timers, we are all looking forward to seeing how the team performs.
“I’m most excited for being the head coach of the program and seeing how it develops in year two, then to see leadership, since there are a lot of seniors,” Coach Schmidt said.
Practice makes a man perfect, but for our coach watching makes a man perfect.
“I think with the group that we had last year and this year, seeing their work ethic wanting to stay late and get there early, which makes me want to put in the effort to be there and work hard myself and just be a better coach,” Coach Schmidt said.
Moreover, our Grizzlies are excited and are ready to make us proud this season. Tryouts are on March 2 for more information email on [email protected]
