The clock ticks to 15, but Hunter Stahl has already passed the finish line. This is not a normal accomplishment; this is something everyone puts their goals towards, but only a few people complete it, and Hunter did at the Gans Creek Classic.
“I ended up going under 15 minutes in the 5k for the first time,” Hunter Stahl (’26) said. “It was a really great experience for sure.”
This makes Hunter the 16th fastest high school runner in the state of Missouri ever, and the fastest in St. Charles County history.
He also broke his own school record by more than 20 seconds and placed 4th with a finishing time of 14:56.30.
This time puts him 3rd in the state currently, and also puts him in the top US 100 as well.
“I think it went really well,” Stahl said. “I went into the day just hoping to get out there and compete to the best of my ability.”
He placed 4th in the elite division and comfortably set himself up for a good race and placement at state.
“Placing top 3 at state would be great, and I also want the team to win the varsity conference,” Stahl said.
With Hunter’s performance, he is helping set up our team for the conference and districts.
Hunter has also committed to the University of Central Arkansas, which will bring him to the next level and will certainly have more to accomplish in the future.
We can’t wait to see what our cross country team can do in the last couple of weeks of the season, and congratulations to Hunter Stahl for the record-breaking run.
