Closing in on Our Season

As our football season is coming to an end, let’s recap on some good times.

“We have ups and downs but we’re building a solid team,” Joel Massey (‘25) said.

The team had a game against Soldan last Saturday, and we took the victory 78-6.

“We got in there, handled business, played our game, and then we left victorious” Peyton Briddell (‘25) said.

The team has some pregame rituals that they do before a game for good luck.

“We always pray before a game and Coach Gregory says a before-game speech to get us hyped up.” Brock Banze (‘26) said. “We also drink Pickle Juice to help with cramps.”

The football booster club buys jars of pickles to pour the juice into cups for the team.

“Another tradition we have is walking up and down the field before games,” Luke Gertken (‘24) said.

Peyton Briddell prefers to be by himself to focus before a game and do small things that he believes help him do better.

“My pregame ritual is me being by myself getting in the zone, headphones on just listening to music,” Briddell said. “I also always put my right cleat on before my left, then I put my eye black on before my shoulder pads.”

The coaches are constantly giving speeches to hype up our team.

“Coach Hankins once told me, even if you can’t participate, make the best of the opportunity that is given,” Briddell said.

“One of my favorite moments in a game was probably beating Fort Zumwalt South at our last homecoming game because nobody thought we would win,” Banze said.

Speaking of homecoming, this homecoming game is going to be our most exciting football game yet.

“Everyone come to watch,” Massey said.

Our team has been practicing all week and is ready for this game.

“We worked hard this week at practice and I think we will come out on top,” Michael Hammond (‘24) said.
