Ms. Geerling is a new English teacher at our school.

As we are starting a new year here, we have many new teachers. Let’s meet Ms. Geerling, a new English teacher this year. She teaches English II, English III and Creative Writing.

Ms. Geerling has been teaching for 10 years. This is year 11 for her. Her teaching style is very laid back and she gives her students enough time to complete assignments in class. She goes over the material thoroughly and makes sure that everyone understands everything well.

“I became a teacher because I wanted to work at a job that I felt good about,” Geerling said.  “I have worked a corporate job before teaching. I had more freedom there, but my job wasn’t as meaningful.”

Most teachers have their favorite parts of teaching. When she is teaching, you can tell that she enjoys her job because she is very enthusiastic about going over each assignment. She ties in stories to each assignment that her learners do in class.

“My favorite part about teaching is when a student gets excited about something because then I feel like I have made a difference,” Geerling said.

Many of the new teachers have said that they love being at our school. Mrs. Geerling is one of those.

“I love being at North Point because the students are great to work with and they have great attitudes,” Geerling said. “I love coming to work each morning. I like the students I get to work with, but I also like my co-workers because they are all a huge help and they all seem to like their job.”
