These and a lot more movies are coming this year.

2023 looks like it is going to be an exciting year for movies, with so many announcements coming out as of recently. It  feels almost too good to be true, since lots of the movies coming out this year are ones that have been heavily anticipated for years and years.

For instance, “Indiana Jones” is finally getting the fifth film in the franchise with “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” Actor Harrison Ford will be making his return as the main lead again, along with other actors such as Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, and more. It will come out June 30, 2023.

“The Dial of Destiny” will be a standalone sequel to the film prior to this one, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

It is not the only movie to be added to an iconic franchise, either. Tom Cruise and others will be starring in another “Mission Impossible” film, which will be separated into two parts. The first part will come out on July 14, 2023.

Also coming out in July is “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. It is definitely one of the strangest films to come out this year. While we do not have much information about what the film is about, many have theorized online that the film may or may not take on a darker role. However, it is too soon to really make any predictions.

“Wonka” is another interesting film to be released on December 15, with Timothée Chalamet playing in the lead role as the character Willy Wonka. The film will be a prequel to “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” exploring a younger Wonka and how he meets the Oompa Loompas, the characters who work for Wonka in the Chocolate Factory.

There has not been much revealed about this prequel other than the initial plot and the actors, leaving a lot of aspects of this film left completely unknown. It definitely brings an exciting sense of ambiguity in terms of the tone this movie will bring.

Chalamet will also be playing another lead role in “Dune 2,” the sequel of “Dune” and the second movie in what is said to be a trilogy based on the first “Dune” book. With how gargantuan the first film felt in its tone, plot, and lore, it is safe to say that this next movie in the series could be even bigger. It will make its release on the big screen on November 3 this year.

A series this high-quality and ambitious could lead to a trilogy that becomes just as iconic as “Lord of the Rings,” if of course these last two in said trilogy reach a similar or better amount of quality as the first film.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is another big movie to be released on June 2 this year, where we will see our main character Miles Morales having his next adventure throughout the multiverse. He will be joined by lots of new spider-counterparts from other universes, creating lots of anticipation for who may join Miles, and from which Spider-Man universe.

Miles will not be the only “Marvel” character making an appearance this year. “Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will be the next movies in Marvel’s large filmography, and while its latest string of films have not been as good as before, hopefully these next two can reach a quality that can bring back what made the Marvel Cinematic Universe so good in the first place.

“Quantumania” will see Scott Lang, also known as Ant Man, and Hope Van Dyne, also known as the “Wasp,” exploring the Quantam Realm, as they meet new and dangerous creatures along the way. The two will also be joined by Scott’s daughter, Cassandra, and Janet Van Dyne, Hope’s mother.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” does not seem to have a plot to be aware of before it releases, other than the trailer that is currently online. It looks like it will be jam packed with lots of emotion, however.

With all of these movies being released, it is hard not to be excited for what each one will bring. Of course, there are other films to be released this year that are not in this article to be excited about as well. This year will hopefully be a fantastic one for film media.
