Wentzville schools are kicking off their homecoming day with a parade. Cheerleaders, football players, dancers, and bands are all welcome in the parade. They walk to show school spirit as well as getting everyone pumped and ready for homecoming dances.
Tenleigh O’Neal (29’) said, “The parade was a lot more fun than I expected, we got to play music and get involved with people who came to watch.” “I felt like I bonded with my team more,” O’Neal said.
The parade also allows younger kids to get involved. Throwing candy, getting the little ones excited and having fun. Some floats play music to pump up the vibe.
“We were able to walk up to little kids and give them flags and footballs, even got to toss the footballs at them and their little faces lighting up made me so happy as well as seeing the little girls’ faces when the cheerleaders came,” Kendall Cook (29’) said.
Floats are one of the better things to look forward to when it comes to the homecoming parade. They play music, they get decorated like crazy, they have people walking next to them, people on them, some even will bring dogs. Decorating a float is one of the many ways to show school spirit.
“I loved getting to decorate our float, it helped our team bond and it was fun getting to listen to music and have fun with my team,” Lela Maduas (29’) said.
Homecoming parades also give the prom kings and queens a chance to be seen by their district and show off their royalty. As well as showing them that they also can be recognized.
“It definitely was a fun and enjoyable experience getting nominated homecoming queen for my freshman year, my brother was also nominated homecoming king for his senior year which was super exciting,” Allie Hudson (29’) said.
