Homecoming isn’t just about football games or the dance for some students; it’s about the parade.
For students, families, alumni, teachers, and the community, the yearly homecoming parade has become a loved tradition. With candy being thrown, floats rolling down the street, and familiar faces on the floats and on the sidewalks, it’s a fun celebration for all.
“I love tossing candy to the crowd, it makes some kids’ day.” Brendon Balcom (26) said after reflecting on his favorite memories from years past.
For students like Balcom, the parade is about school pride and spending time with friends and people in the community.
Ben Mulenga (26) said it’s the people who make it special.
“My favorite part? Just seeing all the lovely people come out, I get to make kids smile just by throwing candy.”
Both students note that making the kids smile is the best part, even though it’s a simple thing.
Over the years, North Point has had a large variety of floats, including sports-themed designs. The parade also includes the marching band, cheerleaders, and community organizations.
This year’s parade will be on Saturday, October 4th, at 9:00 am.
