The cheerleaders and dancers had an amazing start to the summer by doing the NCA and NDA camp. They got to do fun things as well as learning different types of stunts, cheers and dances.
“My favorite part of NDA was the socializing, the ribbons and sharing rooms with my friends.,” Abby Marks (‘29) said. “We had three different types of evaluation ribbons. We also had different styles of dance like Hip Hop, Pom, Jazz, Kick, and Contemporary. It was fun and exciting.”
Some girls were not able to make camp, but still think the experience was fun and wish they could’ve gone to support, as well as learning things and work on things they may have needed to fix.
“It sounded really fun, lots of team bonding, lots of skills learned. Spirit sticks, Fun days, and wigs. Staff positivity and an uplifting environment,” Sara Simpkins (‘29) said.
Every so often, the girls would have evaluations based on what they had learned and practiced. Some say they were intimidating but also fun at the same time. They enjoyed the rewarding feeling of getting ribbons and medals for the evals and getting to experience it all together.
“Evaluations were scary but very fun at the same time, and rewarding,” Lela Madaus (‘29) said.
The quality time with their team and the others around them made a huge difference in their team now. Everyone feels more comfortable with their team. It impacted them in so many ways to better themselves for their team.
“Spending quality time with my team and getting to know everyone on my team, as well as spending time with my coaches. I loved funner days, and Brenley’s mom bought us Chick-fil-A,” Kaylee Humphreys (‘29) said. “I loved getting to work with other teams from other schools.”
The girls had an amazing time at camp making so many great memories as well as having an amazing time working together, and getting to work with other teams!
