Have you ever needed to talk with someone, maybe get your class switched or anything of that matter? You may need Laughman. Mr Laughman: a counselor, a coach, a cop.
In most professions, you need education beyond high school and Laughman did exactly that.
“I took four years of college,” Laughman said .
Laughman was also a cop and cops deal with adults, but school counselors deal with kids This was quite a transition.
“The transition was nice because when I responded to things as a cop people had a feeling of apprehension and tensions were high, but with kids, in a school setting, it’s much easier to help people because they really talk to me about things,” Laughman said.
He also said he wanted to see a change for himself and the types of people he worked with, so he became a counselor because he really felt like he could help people more. And he did just that. He is already making a difference with students here.
¨He helped me switch my classes and with that I became happier with my schedule.¨ Ivanna Osorio (‘28) said.
Sometimes, being a counselor means you have to have patience and put yourself in the students’ shoes.
¨I think Laughman listens very well and I value that about him,¨Avery Hill (‘27) said.
The students here love how laughman listens and helps with the problem at hand.
