Homecoming, also known as Hoco, is a dance that happens in high schools around the country. Many kids look forward to this dance to get together with their friends and have fun. With homecoming comes a full week of fun, including the Powder Puff game, where girls play football and the football players cheer and coach. There’s also the homecoming pep rally, the homecoming football game, and, right before the dance, the homecoming parade.
“I like the parade, and I had a lot of fun at the parade,” Layla Bell (’28) said.
For a lot of students, Hoco is all about memories, like before the dance getting ready and taking pictures. There is a lot of preparation for homecoming. For example, if you have a date, you have to make sure your tie matches her dress, etc.
“Yeah, my favorite part was getting ready with my friends,” Annabelle McNamee (’29) said.
The Hoco football game usually has the biggest crowd since it’s right before Hoco, and students want to get hype early, which means there is a lot of energy in the air. This year, the theme was Blac-out.
“The game was great because of the adrenaline and the excitement of homecoming,” Chloe Curry (‘28) said. “Even though we lost, it was an eventful game and I had a lot of fun.”
Homecoming is an amazing experience every year that students look forward to, especially incoming first-year students, who have never been to a dance before. Till next year.
