With the Powderpuff game just around the corner, the senior girls here at North Point are about to start practicing for the annual game with a shared goal to win.
The annual Powderpuff game is a game of flag football during homecoming week, which gives girls in every grade the chance to compete. For many seniors, it is a meaningful and fun moment in their final year of high school.
“I wanted to join Powderpuff because I wanted to be more involved in activities for my senior year,” Paige Bahr (26) said. “I am excited for practice, to make new friends and to hopefully win.”
Practices will be held during lunch, with boys volunteering to help organize drills, calling plays and teaching them the rules of football. Ben Barfield, this year’s coach, has some advice for the players.
“Hit your blocks, hit your gaps, do what you’re supposed to do.” Ben Barfield (26) said.
The game is scheduled for October 1st at 6 pm on the football field. As the days start to tick down, the seniors are not only focused on winning, but also on building friendships and showing how good their class is.
“We only get to win as seniors once,” Ella Cano (26) said. “We want to make it count.”
