With the addition of new players to our girls soccer team this year, we are introducing our first-ever freshman team. Luckily, there were enough girls to make a team for this year. They are making the best out of it so far. Let’s recap from the past couple of weeks.

They won their first game against Francis Howell High School and tied Saint Dominic High recently just as the season started. The girls have shown a great sense of competition and support for each other since the beginning of the season.

They continue to win against their opponents, showcasing their skills and determination.

As you know, this is North Point’s first ever freshman girls’ soccer team. They have been showcasing the school effectively. But as for now, they have been getting less acknowledgment and support, unlike the JV and varsity players. These girls are truly showcasing their talent on the fields, performing just as phenomenally as the JV and varsity players.

They are still not getting much attention, but as the season gets more intense, their skills need to be recognized.

The freshman players have and are working really hard and the North Point administration and the school community needs to recognize their efforts. This recognition will motivate players and inspire other students to pursue their passions and excel.

By recognizing and celebrating the freshmen’s accomplishments, the school can create a supportive and encouraging environment for all students.

By giving them equal acknowledgment and support as the JV and varsity teams, we can boost their confidence and create a more inclusive soccer program as the school years go by.

“We really should be noticed more knowing we have been doing great so far,” Lana Ingle (27′) said.

Ingle is one of our freshman soccer players, number thirteen to be exact. She noticed that the team is getting less recognition from the school, soccer supporters and overall coaches.

“Also, our home games usually don’t have enough audience or school spirit,” Ingle said “We would like more fans, like the football and baseball games.”

Since soccer and football play on the same fields, they should have equal support at the home games. This applies to JV and varsity as well, but mainly focuses on freshman athletes.

“The lack of support is a real motivator for us to perform even better,” Ingle said. “We just want the chance to show what we’re capable of and make our school proud.”

As the soccer season continues, we should start acknowledging the student-athletes. Attending games can greatly contribute to the growth of athletes and teams, emphasizing the strength and success of our school.
