Our basketball team is going to come back and be so much better than last year. This is the year we will be making a comeback. Our team is so excited to come back and do better.
Some players are returners and are going to play to the best of their abilities.
“My goal is to do as best as I can and hope to do my best,” Tyler Perkins (‘26) said.
Some of the boys are just excited to have a ball on the court, make friends, have good memories and become better.
“I am most excited to play with my teammates,” Perkins said.
Our players love motivating other players and helping the team grow.
“They all push me to do my best,” Perkins said.
Winning is really important for the players, but so is getting the team involved.
“To have a winning record and get the team involved is a priority,” Azarree Johnson (‘28) said.
The whole crowd cheering for our basketball team gets them excited and going.
“I look forward to the home games and the big crowds,” Johnson said.
Some boys learned how to be better in every aspect of life and not just basketball.
“It’s taught me to have more discipline and not just in basketball,” Johnson said.
For our team, teamwork makes the dream work.
“One of our goals this year is to get good teamwork,” Charlie Lenceski (‘27) said.
Looks like some of our seniors make basketball fun for the other players.
“I’m excited about playing with the seniors,” Lenceski said. “The team taught me to learn more discipline.”
Our boys need a positive environment to perform really good.
“Our goal this year is to have a positive environment,” Lashawn Knights (‘27) said. “I am hoping to get more varsity minutes and play with my brothers.”
Our players learn so much just by watching.
“I feel like they have pushed me to do better and watching them has made me better as well,” Knights said.
Some of the boys want to better themselves
“I hope we have a better record than last year,” Joseph Cointin (‘27) said. “I’m excited to play Holt because it’s always fun.”
Practice makes you perfect, but even watching someone practice can make you perfect.
“That team has taught me how to be better just while practicing,” Cointin said.
Being united and being there for each other will always lead to success.
“We plan to really come together and build a winning culture, “ Jackson Gibson(‘26) said.
They are always looking new ways to challenge themselves.
“I’m excited to play St. Charles,” Gibson said.“We hope to improve team development by hanging out with everybody.”
Basketball is a way for the coach to make them learn real life skills and for the players to learn them.
“The main goal is just to get better and hopefully just have them have success and not just on the courts, but overall in life,” Coach Nicholson said. “I’m really excited that we have so many young guys wanting to play and learn the game the right way.”
Coach connecting with the kids is really important
“Yeah, I would say you learn to be resilient and flexible in how to connect with different kids and age groups.”
