The start of basketball season is always exciting for everyone involved, like the student section, coaches, and players. As the weather cools down and the leaves start to change, the gyms start buzzing with the sounds of squeaking shoes and bouncing balls. This season with our Grizzlies is no different; they came to work hard this season.
For all the players, the start of the season marks the peak of their hard work and dedication, which they have been putting in for the past couple of months. The players have been working hard during the off-season by practicing daily, focusing on improving their skills, teamwork, and strategies during games. The effort of the players and coaches is expected to pay off on the court due to their dedication to the sport.
We asked forward player Adones Smith (26): “How have you and your team prepared for the upcoming basketball season during the off-season, and how has it helped you?” Smith answered, “We’ve been doing a lot of conditioning, running, and team bonding. I think all that brings us together as a team, and we become more connected on the court.”
We also questioned point guard Cody Nunnery (25) and asked, “What are you most looking forward to this season, and why?” Nunnery responded: “I’m looking forward to creating bonds with some of the new guys on varsity and creating memories that I’ll look back on as I get older.” Nunnery shows his dedication to the game throughout his high school career and as a teammate.
Smith (26) and Nunnery (25) show their dedication to the game and how it’s important to have teamwork, determination, and respect for those who are with you to create your success as a teammate. As we all say in unison, good luck to the Boys Varsity Team of 2024-2025; we expect immaculate improvement over the past years from all of the players.
