The Big Fish musical has a very talented cast who cannot wait to show their acting, singing, and dancing skills to the world in this year’s production. With only twenty practices left the cast is very excited to share some behind the scenes about the play they have been working so hard for.
“I think it’s definitely exciting, we’re experimenting with a lot of new things, this is the first really big choreography filled show, there are also a bunch of technical aspects that are really cool as well,” Caya Spencer (‘26) said.
Spencer has done many productions in the past including Percy Jackson, Into the Woods, You Can’t Take it With You, and One Acts.
“Acting has always been a passion of mine, I love music, I love dancing, I love performing on a stage,” Spencer said. “Being on a stage is like a lifeline to me, it’s very fulfilling.”
Spencer has multiple roles. Her main role is as Josephine, the wife of Will. She is also part of the ensemble as one of the witches, and she is one of the choreographers.
There is a lot of new talent this year with many new freshmans joining the cast, including Aubrey Doss (‘28).
“I really like doing the stuff on stage, trying out was difficult but I find that doing the production is always easier,” Doss said.
Doss has been in a few productions before including Frozen Jr, and High School Musical Jr, but this is her first highschool production and she is very excited.
“I’ve always enjoyed doing plays, especially the ones from previous years,” Doss said.
Another one of the freshmen joining the cast is Taylor Fraley (‘28).
“I’ve never really done a musical before and I wanted to try something new,” Fraley said.
Fraley is in the ensemble and is excited to be playing as one of the Alabama Lambs.
“We have a lot to learn but I think we can manage with what we have, it’s not perfect but that makes it perfect,” Fraley said.
Make sure to buy your tickets if you want to see these talented actors and the rest of the amazing cast on stage on Nov. 7-9.
