Dr. Sachs, a new teacher at North Point this year, teaches chemistry class. She was motivated to become a teacher because she wanted a job where she could help people, so she chose teaching.
“I try teaching with a style as interactive and engaging for the students as possible,” Sachs said.
She has her students’ desks arranged in pods so they can frequently work together. She has bellringers every day to check student’s understanding, as well as various assessments and quizzes.
“One of the challenges teachers face today is getting students to focus and work hard on their work instead of doing other things,” Sachs said.
Dr. Sachs is a wonderful teacher because she engages with her students daily. Her lessons are always interesting and important for her students. Her students gain important knowledge they will use for the tests and for their future during her chemistry classes.
“I have lessons that I present, but I also let students ask questions throughout my talking, and I have them talk to each other and discuss the material, really engaging with the subjects,” Sachs said.
Dr. Sachs is a new teacher here, who has a great teaching style and makes her classes interesting, engaging and important.
